College Support with America



A healthcare professional based in New York City, Aisha Sylvain currently works to build partner relationships within large health systems as Senior Director of Member Development at the Health Management Academy. Outside her professional responsibilities, Aisha Sylvain serves as a mentor and coach with America Needs You.

Created to provide transformational mentoring for low-income college students, America Needs You operates a two-year fellowship program for first-generation college students. The program matches each student with an individual mentor who provides up to 220 hours of one-on-one mentoring over two years. Mentors helps students create and pursue goals, build industry connections, and stay on track with academics and professional pursuits.

The fellowship program also involves up to 28 full-day workshops, where students explore professional interests and participate in exercises focused on personal growth. In addition to mentoring and professional development, the program provides financial support of up to $2,000 in grant money, which can be used for expenses from books to business attire for interviews.
